I directed this music video for Zayn Malik, using some of my favorite footage I had shot during my world travels. Locations include: Alaska, Greenland, Haiti, Greece, Northern Ireland, Switzerland, The Azores, Iceland, Arizona, the Pacific Northwest, and of course California!
I was approached by Taryn Zimmerman, Zayn's personal assistant, and asked if I would like to make a music video! She said that Zayn had seen my work, and was excited about having me direct a video. For this video, no new footage was shot, but instead I dug deep into my archives of footage I had shot around the world with my drones. I worked with Taryn and Zayn to choose which clips he liked the best for the video, and was excited when he wanted to keep me (in frame, flying my drone) in the opening shots. Zayn liked the idea of keeping people in the video, rather than purely landscape shots. I worked with brilliant editor Rex Lowry, who executed and amplified my idea to mirror and kaleidoscope the different shots over the course of the video. It was Zayn's final request to add in a little hidden gem shot of his eye at the very end—which his adoring fans went crazy for.
